Introduction

The wines from Podere Campriano are compelling on their own. The fact that they are produced by a genuine family who live in a modest farmhouse surrounded by a mere two hectares of vines make these wines even more compelling. The vines are tended by hand along with the rest of the crops produced on their farm.

100% Sangiovese is grown on dark galestro schist soils, vinified by micro terroir split by elevation and exposure. The winemaking is generally the same across all the red wines, with fermentation in stainless steel followed by time in large neutral Botti. The wine is then placed back into stainless steel tanks before spending time in bottle prior to release.

Family Affair

Their IGT Alta Valle della Greve bottling comes from the oldest vines on the highest elevation and is declassified Chianti Classico while the Chianti Classico Riserva comes from a northwest exposure. Both spend 12-14 months in Botti, 12 months in stainless steel, and then 18 months in bottle. Their Chianti Classico comes from the lowest elevation site with a southwest exposure, spending the least amount of time aging, with 8 months in Botti, 10 months in stainless, and 12 months in bottle. Overall, these wines are genuine and noble expressions of the quality level that Sangiovese can reach in Chianti Classico and are best on the table, shared with friends and family, just as the Lapini family enjoys them.
